Ever looked through the seemingly never-ending list of science fiction films and been stuck on what is good and what...isn't? Well, look no further than right here-where I will show you some of the most popular and successful sci-fi flicks.

There are plenty of science fiction films in existence, but it's hard to filter through them and decide which ones deserve our attention and time. This is by no means a comprehensive or complete list, but it showcases some of my personal favorite films that I believe every science fiction fan to see. The movies are also not listed in any particular order
Alien (1979)
Although this film has been discussed on this blog before, there really is nothing that compares to the suspense and horror that this film was able to instill. It is one of the best science fiction horror films to date, and still holds up well compared to recent releases.
The Matrix (1999)
This film is one that has been extremely popular in pop culture since its release in 1999. Something about the entirely unique concept and stellar performances by Keanu Reeves and other cast members make this a memorable and enjoyable film.
Back to the Future (1985)
This film is a more lighthearted take on the sci-fi genre as a whole. Time travel was not a new concept when the movie hit theaters, but the way that it was handled and represented was entirely different than anything else. The movie is fun, but keeps its seriousness through a high stakes journey that keeps watchers engaged throughout.
Jurassic Park (1993)
Another different entry into the genre of science fiction, this film takes us back in time rather than forward in time. Millions of years in the past, in fact. The thought of actually facing real dinosaurs is an intriguing, yet also terrifying, one. "Jurassic Park" terrified and mesmerized an entire generation when the film released in 1993, and has paved the way for numerous sequels and the "Jurassic World" franchise.
Inception (2010)
One of the more recent entries on this list, "Inception" is one of Christopher Nolan's more interesting films. The film tackles the idea of infiltrating people's dreams to extract valuable information, and uses exceptional visuals to capture the audience. Although the plot and overall ideology behind the film can be confusing, it is still a great watch overall that really makes the audience ponder and think.
